Toronto for Extended-Stay Travellers
Updated Fall 2023
Planning an extended stay in Toronto for business, pleasure or while you’re renovating your home? You can live like a local with these handy tips.
Choose the right hotel
First, pick a hotel with the amenities you need to make your day-to-day life as simple and enjoyable as possible. We offer fully furnished condo-style suites (check out our extended stay special offers for 7+, 14+ and 30+ day stays). No need to change your routine —depending on the suite you choose, you can cook, do your laundry, and even invite friends to stay on your pull-out sofa — just like at home. Here, though, your bed gets made for you!
Shop like a local
Getting to know your local merchants is an easy way to make connections in a new neighbourhood. Whether you’re shopping for your daily basics or souvenirs to take home, you’ll find everything you need in Toronto’s downtown core within quick walking distance of the Pantages. Start with the essentials – the Metro grocery store on Gould Street (an 8-minute walk) and Shoppers Drug Mart on Yonge (a 3-minute walk). For your morning joe, try Mast Coffee on Shuter St. (a 4-minute walk).
Keep a consistent schedule
One of the keys to well-being is to maintain a regular routine. That means going to bed and getting up at the same time, sticking to your daily work hours, and scheduling downtime just like you would at home. If you’re used to spending evenings with friends or family, schedule a daily after-dinner phone call or video chat. Even if you’re relishing the freedom of being on your own, sticking to your routine will leave you with more energy for your time in Toronto and make the transition back to home much, much easier.
Don’t skip your workouts
This is part of keeping a consistent schedule, but it’s so important it deserves a section of its own. Even if you’re making use of your kitchen, extended stays away from home often lead to more snacking, more restaurant meals, and a decline in overall health. Maintaining a regular exercise routine will keep you feeling great so you can face whatever challenges life presents during your stay.
You can get your sweat on in our fitness centre, a state-of-the-art facility with a selection of weight training and cardio equipment, open from 5:30am until 11pm every day. Or explore some of the many fitness offerings in the neighbourhood, like Yoga Tree at Bay and Dundas (an 8-minute walk) or Goodlife Fitness at Toronto Bell Trinity Centre (a 6-minute walk). You can also rent a bike from Bike Share Toronto for your commute or to explore the city.
Use the closet!
This seems like a no-brainer, but too many of us make the mistake of spending weeks (or longer) living out of a messy suitcase when we could have just unpacked on day one. Getting your clothes put away and your closet organized is one of the things you can do to get comfy in your new space (and avoid those “I-have-nothing-to-wear” mornings).
Welcome to Toronto. Enjoy your extended stay!
