3 Must-See Exhibits at the AGO
Not only is the Art Gallery of Ontario an architectural gem, it’s also home to more than 90,000 works of art. It’s one of those places that offers an incredible experience each time you visit. The masterminds behind the Art gallery have one mission: “We bring people together with art to see, experience and understand the world in new ways.”
The AGO always has something for all ages and interests. Below are three must-see current exhibits at the Art Gallery of Ontario.
ReBlink
Art meets technology in this exhibit by artist Alex Mayhew. Famous AGO paintings are augmented using a custom app that viewers download to their smartphones or tablets. It’s an entirely new way to explore historic art, as the works in front of you twist and change to reflect the 21st century. Landscapes are transformed and subjects come alive in this innovative work of art.
Florine Stettheimer: Painting Poetry
The 50 works of Florine Stettheimer are now on display until January 28th, 2018. Largely underknown, this is the first time the paintings and drawings of Stettheimer are on display in Canada. As a feminist and subtle change-maker of her time, her paintings reflect playfully vibrant scenes with psychological complexity.
Guillermo Del Toro: At Home With Monsters
A rare glimpse into the fantastic and frightful world of Guillermo del Toro, world-renowned filmmaker. This exhibition takes viewers on an explorative journey into the mind of the inventive filmmaker. You may recognize some of his works from movies like The Devil’s Backbone, Pan’s Labyrinth, Hellboy II: The Golden Army, Pacific Rim, and Crimson Peak. Guillermo Del Toro: At Home With Monsters is on now until January 7th, 2018.
